Saturday Feb 06, 2010
From The Consort Collection Vol 1 by Larry Bernstein (Dolce, Brighton, England). Notes indicate it was written about 1510 by Juan Del Encina. I think this was originally a song about a straying wife.

From "A Purcell Collection for Recorder Consort: Fifty Solos, Duets, trios and quartets" (Arnold Freed, Boosey & Hawkes, 1986 ). This is a quartet from "Dioclesian", an opera Purcell wrote in 1690.

A bouree

Thursday Feb 04, 2010
A bouree from the Atlanta Winter Music Festival. The sheet music has just "Bouree" and "MPC" on it. I think this means Michael Praetorius ( 1571-1621 ). Five parts including the tambourine on the repeats. Apparently with percussion, less is often more.

Anthony Holbrook

An Anthony Holbrook tune which fell into my recorder case. The sheet music includes words for the 50th anniversary of the American Recorder Society. Four parts. The top two are both soprano, which is probably a tactical error. It's hard to keep 2 sopranos in different parts of the range in tune.

From "Music of the Renaissance for three recorders" (Erich Katz, Edward B. Marks Music Company) This is #3 -- header says "Mocht ich dein begeren (from the 'Lochleimer Liederbuch', ca 1455)".

A Royal Estampie from the Atlanta Early Music Festival. Still experimenting with levels. The tenor solo is a little thin because of this.
